12/1/12 - December! Already?

My, my, my how time flies.  It’s hard to believe it’s December when we’re having 70+ temperatures and the trees still look like the (real) one above.  This is unseasonably warm – even for Texas!

BTW, Ann – thanks a lot.  Now I see kitties in trees everywhere.  ROFL!

And where has all the time gone since my last blog?!? Well, let’s see.  I spent a lot of time on the road over my 4-day Thanksgiving weekend and here are some of the things I saw….

That trailer is longer than the RV!  I couldn't believe it.  And here’s another unusual sight…. Cowboys at a Drive Thru….

Yep, pawdna, I live in Texas alright.  LOL.

Then I get home and as I am pulling in to the HOOD, I thought all of my unusual sightings were probably over for awhile, but oh, SO not true....

Yep, a blimp in the HOOD.  LOL.

And the furbabies watched mommy watch the finale to DWTS this past week.  That was so awesome and came out just as I predicted!  Seriously awesome.  I already can’t wait until next season, but this one will be hard to top.  Such fun!  Although something tells me these 3 are glad it's over.  LOL.

I also spent a lot of time this last week working on our booth at KnickKnacks.  By the time this posts, we’ll be in the midst of a huge Open House.  Wish us luck!  :)

After getting the booth set up for the sale, my sister and I went to dinner.  They had Christmas Carolers at the restaurant….

Yep, Christmas Carolers.... Tex-Mex style.  LOL.

The other wonderful thing I've done since my last blog post is…. drum roll please…. I've been writing!  There are 6 chapters underway on my book, but this week I wrote the prologue.  If you want a preview, email me, and I’ll send you a copy of the prologue.

Update: If you read the prologue and can guess how Chapter One begins, I will send you a gift from our booth!  :)

Happy Holidays everyone!

11/24/2012 - Mountains to Climb, Winner

There are Mountains to Climb: An Inspirational Journey, by Jean M. Deeds

Welcome to our newest, wonderful reader, Kim – aka Kimbopolo.  Kim is a Nurse Practitioner and she has a wonderful blog, The Travels of Kimbopolo.  I especially love her Good Deal Bus, GDB, a 2010 Roadtrek.  In fact, reading about her GDB excursions, has me rethinking the size RV I want.  I’m convinced, smaller is better.  ;)

Kim has an adorable Chihuahua mix, Doris, adopted in December 2009; and true to her sense of humor, she’s happily married to John, "adopted in September 1983".  LOL.  If you haven’t already met her, hop on over and check out her blog.  I highly recommend it.  I’m happy you’re here Kim!

NOTE: Kim recently posted a book giveaway, and I am happy to report that I am next in line to get the book pictured above.  She recently emailed to tell me it’s en route and I can’t wait to read it!  I am 4th in this wonderful tradition of passing it on, and when I have finished it, I will post the next giveaway here on my blog.  Stay tuned!  You could be the 5th recipient!

In Kim’s words, “It contains a soulful, deeply reflective account by a 50-something year-old woman who through-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 1994. It's one of the best books I've read about the Trail experience.”

If you can’t wait, or want your own copy, you can order it online (here).

Blessings abound.  I hope you and yours continue to have a Safe, Happy, Healthy, Wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.  HugZ from Texas!

11/20/12 - Kleenex, Take Me Away

Okay, I borrowed the title from the 1970's Calgon commercial, but that's okay -- I borrowed the picture from a Kleenex box.  Yep, folks, a Kleenex box.

What does it say about a person when they look longingly at a Kleenex box and wish they were somewhere else?  Deranged?  Delusional?  Dissociative?  Maybe.

But I prefer to think of it as my continued theme of finding beauty everywhere, anywhere.

11/18/12 - God's Reminders

Perhaps in an effort to share some of the good around here, and perhaps in hope that someday there will be an obvious difference in my quality of photography skills (LOL), I am sharing two photos from a recent walk.

It never ceases to amaze me how there is beauty all around us – every day.  I just have to look for it, or at it.  Beautiful sunsets like the one above, taken this week, are routine here.

I think of them as God’s gift, and a reminder to look up.

I wish I had SierraSue or MadSnapper photography skills.  Since I don't (yet, grin), I apologize for the quality of this next picture.  My neighbors across the hall and upstairs from me have two gorgeous kitcats and lots of birds.  This was taken the same day as the sunset picture above.  As we rounded the corner, coming back to the complex, I looked up and there they were.  This is also routine.

I think of them as our welcoming committee, and God’s reminder that love abounds everywhere, among all living things.
