3/5/12-Campfire at Bubba’s

I had the extreme pleasure to spend another evening at my nephew/brother’s house Saturday night. You may recall that “Bubba” is my nephew but he’s only 2 years younger than me so we grew up as brother and sister. Hence the nickname Bubba.  He especially thanks me now that he’s known as “Uncle Bubba” to all the younger nephews and nieces. LOL.

After a huge southern fish-fry meal (courtesy of their all night fishing excursions), we sat around their pit, enjoying a wonderful fire on a cool evening. I didn’t get any pictures of the 3 of us dancing around the pit to the smooth grooves of Santana (Ultimate Santana) or the blues by Tommy Castro (Can’t Keep a Good Man Down), but I did make an attempt at nighttime photography.

And I promise wonderful readers, I will one day take a class, or read the manual, or do something to learn how to take better pictures. It’s just not my focus right now (pun intended, grin)... getting an RV is.

So, I’m pleased to announce that Bubba has agreed to go RV shopping with me the 1st day he can take off. I am thrilled! He and BJ, his wife, are on their 2nd trailer and they have been campers our entire lives. (They are one of those rare couples that have been together since high school and are still happily married.) We joked about how “camping” has progressed from a tarp and a sleeping bag on our motorcycles in younger years to RVs and trailers.

He owns his own business so it might be awhile before he takes a day off, but it will be well worth the wait. One day out with him, shopping and learning, who knows what might happen next! Woohoo!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. God is large and in charge, I'm just along for the ride.

  1. it sounds like you had a great time around the fire. I don't bother reading my manual to learn more about my camera, I just play and pray...lol Night photography requires a tripod for me

    1. @ Ann - tripod, got it. Thanks for the tip! Yes, we had a great time. :) God has blessed me with a lot, but playing and coming up with photos like yours seems like a long shot for me - even with prayer thrown in. LOL.

    1. @ Sandra, OMG girl - you are just too funny. I love it. The buried "base" of the pit is an 18-wheeler wheel (I think I have that right). Good luck! :)

    1. @ Susan - mesmorizing is a great word. We get out there and the world just slips away. ;) Glad you like the quote. I'm so happy for you and can't wait to read all about your adventures on the road. Happy trails!
